PACE Stocking Provides Scottish Power with Quick Turn Solution

Stocking Scottish Power

Scottish Power has a long track record of using porcelain insulators within their substations. However, lead times for porcelain insulators were too long when the transmission operator had an urgent need for replacements.

To meet their need for transmission post insulators, Scottish Power turned to PACE to provide an alternative, and looked at the Rebosio portfolio which includes polymeric alternatives. The nature of composite insulators meant that they were able to meet the required insulation with a smaller diameter, and in doing so improve the clearances within the substation. In addition, Bonomi Rebosio were able to allocate products and supply them within a month which greatly helped with the project timescales. These two factors together made it an excellent option for the operator.

Bonomi Rebosio’s polymeric insulators provide a lighter weight alternative to porcelain, which makes them easier to handle and install. Rebosio’s proven Isoflon-E HTV silicone product has over 30 years of field service and offers a high strength to weight ratio, a long product lifespan and excellent saline and pollution tolerance.
