In 2021, De Angeli Prodotti expanded its capacity for power grid conductors and established a new department for copper conductors for railways. In 2023, they expanded further with a new factory dedicated to FIMT, OPGW and Smart Conductors, reflecting their commitment to advancing a more sustainable energy infrastructure.
The company’s headquarters and main production facility are located in North East, Italy, spanning 110,000 m² and employing 400 staff. De Angeli Prodotti has a significant product portfolio that includes a wide range of standard conductors, ensuring compatibility with different transmission requirements and environmental conditions. They also supply advanced HTLS conductors designed to address the challenges of modern power transmission.
This innovative conductor features a carbon fiber core that is 50% lighter and 20% stronger than traditional ACSR cores. It offers benefits around reliability and ease of installation, as well as reducing line losses by up to 10% and increases ampacity by over 60%.
This conductor significantly enhances ampacity and minimises sag by utilising a single carbon core that is protected by high-temperature tape and an extruded aluminium tube.
Integrated with optical fibers, De Angeli Prodotti’s patented smart conductors enhance the integrity of power lines by enabling continuous, real-time monitoring and data transmission.
The Aluminium Conductor Composite Multistrand (ACCM) from De Angeli Prodotti represents a significant advancement over traditional Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) cables. ACCM conductors are designed to handle higher temperatures, allowing for increased ampacity and more efficient power transmission. This results in lower line losses and reduced CO2 emissions, contributing to both economic and environmental benefits.
ACCM Multistrand conductors offer higher integrity and superior performance in power transmission. It is lighter than ACSR and has a lower minimum bending radius than ACCS, simplifying installation and reducing mechanical stress on support structures. With high thermal resistance, ACCM operates at higher temperatures without sagging, ensuring consistent, reliable performance under varying load conditions. The multistrand design also adds resilience—if one strand is compromised, the conductor’s overall functionality remains effective, making it a highly reliable choice for modern grids.
