Empower condition based maintenance on your network

Empower Condition-Based Maintenance on Your Network

Gain trusted insight and traceability across every stage of your project’s construction and long-term network operation. Move from time-based inspections to real-time, condition-based maintenance.

Continuous monitoring, predictive insight and targeted intervention enable organisations to reduce outages, manage risk more effectively and optimise operational costs across the network.

Condition-based maintenance focuses effort and investment where they deliver the greatest value, using live asset condition rather than fixed inspection intervals to guide decisions.

Why Condition-Based Maintenance?

Traditional inspection and maintenance strategies rely on fixed schedules and reactive intervention, which can result in unnecessary site visits, late identification of emerging issues, or avoidable service disruption. Condition-based maintenance uses real-time data from the network to prioritise work where and when it is genuinely required.

This approach supports improved safety and reliability while enabling more efficient use of maintenance resources. It also provides greater visibility of asset behaviour over time, helping organisations plan interventions more confidently, extend asset life and reduce overall lifecycle cost.

PACE supports condition-based maintenance strategies through a portfolio of proven monitoring technologies from partners including Rebosio, Tridelta, De Angeli Prodotti, OFIL and Cyclops. These technologies are applied within a consistent assurance framework, ensuring data is not only captured, but interpreted and used to support informed operational and maintenance decisions.

Rebosio – Smart Insulator

The Rebosio Smart Insulator delivers embedded intelligence at the structure level, providing continuous insight into both electrical and mechanical condition. Designed to support condition-based maintenance strategies, it enables earlier visibility of insulator behaviour that may indicate emerging degradation or abnormal line conditions.

This technology allows organisations to remotely gain insight into insulator health and line behaviour with minimal additional infrastructure, supporting more informed maintenance decisions and reducing reliance on time-based inspection regimes.

Features:

  • Electronics fully embedded in the ground-side housing
  • Self-powered from the electric field
  • Periodic measurements:
    • Surface leakage current
    • Rod elongation and mechanical load
    • Orientation changes and oscillations
    • Temperature
  • Threshold-based alerts:
    • UV light emission
    • Acoustic emissions

Tridelta SMARTcount

Tridelta smartCOUNT – Surge Arrestor Monitoring

Tridelta smartCOUNT is a next-generation monitoring system for the condition assessment of gapless ZnO surge arresters, enabling asset owners to detect issues early, reduce the risk of outages, optimise maintenance intervals, and maintain visibility across the network.

Monitoring Capabilities:

  • Maintenance-free, lifetime operation
  • Self-powered from leakage current
  • High-resolution leakage current measurement
  • Impulse counting and amplitude measurement up to 100 kA
  • NFC-based data collection or remote collection, and online data access
  • Automated alerts for critical arrester condition

Providing continuous visibility of surge arrester behaviour, smartCOUNT supports more informed maintenance decisions and helps reduce the likelihood of unplanned failure over the asset lifecycle.

De Angeli Prodotti – Smart Conductor

Responding to the growing need for utilities to gain continuous insight into grid performance, De Angeli Prodotti has developed and patented the Smart Conductor, an innovative overhead line conductor with integrated real-time monitoring. De Angeli’s smart conductor enables dynamic line rating in power lines and gives the operator far more valuable data.

Replacing one wire within a conventional conductor with a sensitive optical-fibre-equipped wire enables the Smart Conductor to deliver continuous, real-time data throughout the entire operating life of the line. Advanced integrated equipment supports monitoring of critical parameters including breakages or failures, temperature and deformation, with future capability for vibration and acoustic analysis.

This real-time visibility supports targeted, preventative maintenance and helps reduce service disruption while remaining fully compatible with existing infrastructure. It removes the need for new construction works, can deliver savings of up to 75% in total plant costs, and helps minimise environmental and landscape impact.
